Safe lowww cal!
Sep 17 2009, 3:19 PM EDT | Post edited: Sep 17 2009, 3:19 PM EDT
So here are a few things I've found that are "safe" and healthy:

Craving sweet, eat Cool Whip, its like 15 cals per two tablespoons, and they have sugar free, fat free, and even one called Cool Whip Free that has almost nothing. Stick it in the freezer and it tastes like ice cream! You can top it with a bit of sugar free jam or cut up fruit or splenda or whatever you like.

Muscle Milk Light has 100 cals, 20 grams of protein (we all need for energy and to feed our muscles when our restriction causes us to "eat" our muscles, and our muscles are what burn the calories, even when we sleep! It's lactose and sugar free but still tastes like its a naughty dessert haha

Tuna/Salmon, low cal, low fat, 0-1 gram carbs and HIGH in protein, and GOOD fats. Yes, GOOD fats, the ones that feed your brains. Depression is in almost any ana and it's not only mental but physical, your brain is lacking in the fats that help it function and feel ok. These are fats that go to your brain not your hips. You can also take fish oil vitamins for this I believe.

Mustard/Water, I shake a tablespoon of mustard (like 5 cals) with water and make a seriously tastey salad dressing. Only less than 10 cals and you're sneaking in more water.

Low cal oatmeal- sometimes i struggle with this one, sometimes i feel like it's too carb-y but I find that if I eat it for breakfast I have energy for like the whole day. Look for ones that are low in sugar and cals, mine is like 3 grams sugar, 100 cals, and 3 grams fiber/protein. I mix it with splenda and cinnamon.

Seaweed! Weird, amazing, amazing for you. I actually eat the dried sheets of seaweed they sell for sushi. Its loaaaaded with iron which is also something we need. Good for blood, skin, hair, nails, etc. It's fun to rip off a piece and snack on, and only like 5 cals per giant sheet.

Please add on, lovelies!

How does the seaweed taste? I've never tried it before, but I definitely need iron.

And thanks for posting this by the way.

I figured some of you in different countries couldnt get your hands on some items :( Cool whip is basically like... fat free whipped cream that is frozen? OHHHH I have a new idea, and something I want to try... yknow merangue cookies? Theyre the lowest cal, and have protein because basically all thats in it is egg whites and sugar... but you can replace the sugar with a calorie free sugar and those things would be like 10 cals each! When I have a chance I'll find a good recipe and post it.

And sea weed is awesome, weird definitely but it pretty much tastes salty and slightly fishy but not in a gross way. then when you eat its kinda crunchy then gummy. It sounds gross but maybe I just enjoy, worth a try though. And any kind is fine. If you can find any seaweed salad thats yummy too. Probably anywhere you can find sushi. And I think Nori seaweed is the kind thats most common in the dry sheets.

Frozen yogurts are great. Sorbet is fat free too.
But yeah, basically protein and iron plus any other vitamins are necessary for us. Dont wanna eat your muscles up by not eating!
XOX
I'll think of some more stuff and post it too!

Wow I didn't realize all the different low cal things. I'll add to the list....I like sugar free jello it's my favorite and the gelatin is good for your hair, skin and nails. Also you can find some low cal soups and it keeps you warm, also adding extra veggies to soup is good. Do you find this valuable?

When I feel a binge coming on, I'll have a feed on Pumkin. You can have one cup for only 50 calories!! I dice it up really small and microwave it for a few minutes and it turns all mushy, like thick pumpkin soup... or I roast it and put garlic and hearb salt on it for that feeling of a roast dinner!! Gravey is pretty low cal too so poor some of that over it.

Another thing I love to have if I need to eat is cherry tomatos, a hand full of them is only 20 - 30 calories so there good if you feel like once you start you might not stop. Cause if you do eat the whole container; it's probably only around 50 - 60 calories. Great stuff, plus all healthy for you!! Plus there sweet so you kinda get your 'sugar' fix but not with the side effects.

And for you drinkers out there; red wine is lower cal then white wine, the lowest cal drink I have found though is Vodka and sugar free energy drink, I use V but don't know if you guys have it?? Otherwise Red Bull?? It's only about 50 calories per glass... so if you don't eat all day then you can be happy after 4 - 5 which is around 200 - 300 calories. Yay :) hope I helped a bit.

Chicken/beef broth are great. And vegetable broth. I found a "beefless broth" at Whole Foods and it was so low in everything, like 10 cals a cup. Just watch out for sodiummm. I dropped so much weight quickly when i just drank broth for like a week. I also had a crazy flu and was working out to the point of blacking out in sweats. I seriously would not do that again, I stayed sick on and off (and by off, I mean like a week break from getting horribly ill again) for half a year. Anyways, my point is that its very low cal, hot, and even though you could swallow it like tea, I use a small spoon so it takes me longer.
JELLO IS AMAZING. I do that package kind that you make, and even if I binged on the entire box its only 80 cals... fat/sugar free. Amazing. John Malkovich actually lost 70 pounds by eating only jello for like a year I think? But you get no nourishment...

and GREEK YOGURT! You have to try it! Fat free, and verrrry high in protein. Maybe an aquired taste, I guess I would describe as if they made yogurt out of buttermilk. But it's better for you than any yogurt out there I swear.
Egg whites are also amazing. NO YOLKS, theyre basically pure fat and cholesteral. The whites have all the protein! I like mine with hot sauce and cayenne pepper.
God I need to lose weight :( I ate so many almonds today, they RUINED my day. I took some laxatives a bit ago to "clear out" for tomorrow so I can feel my hip bones more (I've been eating a lot of fiber the past couple days, and its great for you but for a couple days it makes your abdomen "bloated", likepushed out) then nothing but water tomorrow, yoga, steam room room and we'll see where I stand then. Wish me luck!

thanks wicked child this is great, i like the broth idea, ive developed a fear of meat, i just started avoiding it a year ago,( too much fat ) and i panic now at the idea of eating any meat, which is stupid. Thanks for pointing out that we need to include enough protein in our diets, i no your right but its an area im very bad with. Im gonna try out some of your ideas tho, because ive been feeling very tired and flat and im now realising thats probably a result of not enough protein. After all you cant live on vegies!

Thanks sweets!xx

Yeah I can't stress enough how much we need protein. I made a thread on here about blacking out due to lack of protein, mixed with other things but I know the protein had a lot to do with it, cuz for a while I was just mainly eating this 60 cal per cup fat free veggie soup. I'm sure most of you are vegetarian and thats cool, so theres tofu-meat products that are really good too, just keep an eye out. I still love my 80 cal cup of tuna though, it's 98% fat free too. 0 carb, it rules.
Going on a liquid fast today, I still feel so gross and bloated and I FAILED at getting down to 115 by today. I dont want to weigh but I'm guessing 118/119. Grosss.

Anyone no what i can do with tofu to make it a bit more appetising? I have no idea how to cook it, i just tryed to stirr fry it but it was tasteless and horrible. Obviously im not about to flavour it with a sauce, but there has to be a better way to cook it. I think that if i could eat a small amt of tofu a few times a week it would help.

One more quick question, i no protein is composed of amino acids, about 20 of them, and that some of these are essential amino acids. What i want to no is where can i find a complete protein without eating meat. I`ve heard that brown bread and peanut butter combine to form a complete protein, but thats not an option.
How does milk (skimmed) measure up, it has protein but im guessing an incomplete protein.
Theres almost no point in getting these amino acids unless you get the right combination, but how do you no?

i know peanuts, seeds and beans have lots of proteins, but all of those have to get without sugar, salt or fat. Usually from markets you can find those without anything. I like peanuts, cause they have only good fats and good proteins. And you can eat those at least 1-2 handfulls per day without worries!! Do you find this valuable?
